Driver charged after trying to avoid inspection station in Oakville

Skipping a weigh station on the QEW in Oakville proved costly for one truck driver.

According to Halton police, a dump truck weighing more than 61,000 kg was caught on Speers Rd., attempting to avoid the highway inspection station.

Inspectors the the Oakville detachment said four of the truck’s brakes were out of adjustment or defective and one had a hole in it.

The vehicle was overweight on its drives axles and had worn out safety chains and defects in the lighting systems.

The truck was taken out of service and the driver is facing a dozen charges.
