Some students at Emily Carr Public School are being told to self-isolate and not attend school because of COVID-19.

The person who has the infection is a student and the school remains open.
Halton Region Public Health has issued at an advisory stating there has been an exposure risk and a number of high risk close contacts have been identified. “This group is being notified by Halton Region Public Health to self-isolate at home and not attend school.”
A letter sent out yesterday to parents with children at the school said the health department has been called in to ensure that infection prevention and control measures are in place.

“Through their contact tracing protocol, Halton Region Public Health has contacted any students who are considered a high risk close contact,” wrote Principal Cynthia Snowdon. “This group has already been notified by Halton Region Public Health to self-isolate at home and not attend school. At the school we will continue to follow health protocols such as physical distancing, frequent hand washing/sanitizing and the use of masks.”
Located at 2255 Pine Glen Rd. in the Dundas St. W. and Postmaster Dr. area, the school accommodates 830 students from JK-Grade 8.
