It’s been said time and time again that laughter is the best medicine. And if you’re in need of a good laugh then it’s your lucky day because a hilarious event is coming up in Burlington.

The Burlington Comedy Festival, a festival that takes place over the course of four days and features over 12 comedians, and a variety acts performing five shows at two venues – The Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB) and the Water Street Cooker (2084 Old Lakeshore Rd.).

Evening performances will begin at 8 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2019, at The Water Street Cooker and the AGB. Headliners of these shows will include Derek Seguin – a Just for Laughs alumnus, and Mark Forward – a series regular on Letterkenny. All headliners will switch venues the following evening.

The festival will conclude on Feb. 27 with the “Best of the Fest” event at the art gallery. This event will begin at 8 p.m. and will consist of a seven comic line-up including Shaun Majumder, a Gemini Award-winning actor and comedian, and Steve Patterson – host of the hit show The Debaters on CBC Radio One.

In order to make sure attendees are not left hungry, two eateries downtown are offering special deals.

“The best deals in town are the VIP Food & Funny Deals at Emma’s Back Porch and Pepperwood Bistro,” the City of Burlington website notes.

“They include admission to the reserved seating area and a $25 voucher for dinner at the participating restaurant. This package is $49.00 ($69.00 for the “Best of the Fest”).”

The events at the festival this year are in partnership with The Gift of Giving Back – the largest community food drive in Canada. According to the city of Burlington website, donations of non-perishable goods and cash will be accepted at all shows.

Tickets for the festival, which is running from Feb. 24, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. to Feb. 27, 2019, at 10:30 p.m., can be purchased here. For more information about the festival, click here.
