Man Charged After Police Standoff in Burlington

A Burlington man who allegedly threatened police with a gun then barricaded himself for seven hours has been arrested and is facing charges.

Halton police were sent to a restaurant in Milton on Feb. 18 after a man reportedly threatened a woman.

She wasn’t injured.

The man left and was seen driving away in an “erratic manner, narrowly missing several pedestrians,” according to police.

His vehicle was located shortly after at his house on Colonsay Dr. in Burlington.

Officers were sent there and the man allegedly threatened them with a gun in the driveway then retreated back into his house.

Police said there was reason to believe he had several more weapons inside the home, where the man was alone.

Tactical officers were deployed and remained on scene with negotiators from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Feb. 19.

The man was eventually arrested.

David Lane, 52, is charged with two counts of utter threats, one count of dangerous driving, one count of weapons dangerous, and one count of weapons possession contrary to prohibited order.

He’s scheduled for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
