Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Victim in Milton

Halton Police’s Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit has made an arrest following an incident in Milton on Thursday, June 6.

Around 11:15 pm, officers were alerted to a disturbance in the area of Nipissing Road near Childs Drive .

Police attended and located the victim who had been sexually assaulted. The assailant had already fled the scene.

On Monday, June 10, the accused was located in Hamilton and arrested.

27 year old Hamilton man Benjamin Novikov is charged with sexual assault, assault, robbery, uttering threats, and fraud under $5000.

Police say he met the victim on the classifieds website LeoList.

“He was known to use a number of different profile names, including ‘Thor Odinson’, ‘CandyBen’ and ‘Champion’,” police say.

Novikov has been held for a bail hearing.
