Mayor paid $170,000 last year by Town of Oakville

The Town of Oakville revealed how much it paid elected officials last year and leading the way, of course, was Mayor Rob Burton, who took home a little more than $171,000.

The report is provincially-mandated and includes remuneration paid for their services as a member of council or any other body, including local boards, to which the member has been appointed.

Burton was paid $153,510 in salary and benefits $12,300 as a vehicle and technology communication allowance and $5,289 for community outreach and professional development.

Here’s the pay breakdown for the rest of council:

• Sean O’Meara: $83,437
• Scott Xie: $82,168
• Total: $1,303,880

Variations in councillor pay is due to individual benefit coverage and payment from Conservation Halton.

Staff will present the report at next week’s council meeting.
