A Milton resident is encouraging the community to help each other out this holiday season.

Inspired by a post she saw last year, local resident Sarah Bauer decided to create a post in a local Facebook group encouraging the community to share any extra items they may have in hopes of helping each other out over the holidays.

“I saw this posted last year and thought I’d post it this year,” said Bauer in the post.

“What is one thing you need but cannot afford right now? Everyone check to see what others say. Maybe you have it and don’t need it or have a connection to get it. Never know who we can help or how we can help each other.”

In the post, Bauer further explained that it was “really cool” to watch others connect and help each other in the post she saw last year, which prompted her to write one this year as a reminder that people need one another.

“Christmas is just one of those times that some people need others more than any other time of the year. Right now, my husband, three children and I are staying with my husband’s father. So we, as well as so many, understand what it means to give back,” Bauer told insauga.

“Although we are going through a tough time right now, we still enjoy it in our hearts to give back to each community we’re a part of. It warms you from the inside out.”

Bauer went on to emphasize that it’s the small things that count, particularly over the holidays.

“Giving back is always what we do. It puts a smile on people’s faces and that is what the world needs so much right now,” said Bauer.
