Mississauga woman facing charges after Toronto police horse allegedly struck at demonstration

A Mississauga woman is facing five charges after a police horse was allegedly struck with a flagpole during a demonstration in Toronto last month.

Toronto police said officers were handling crowd management at a demonstration in the Gerrard St. E. and Parliament St. area on Saturday, March 30 when the incident took place.

“During the demonstration, a woman intentionally used a flagpole to strike a Toronto Police Service horse and then fled the area,” allege police. “The horse did not sustain any injuries.”

Maryam Alnazer, 61, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer, two counts of assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.
