A trip to this sweet spot in Mississauga is like stepping back in time, and it has just opened again for the season.

Mississauga’s oldest restaurant, Dairy Cream at 715 Lakeshore Rd. E. opened on March 16.

After a blast of snow and cold weather this week, people may not be looking for ice cream.

But this local landmark draws crowds nearly anytime it is open. Closed in December, it typically re-opens in March. It is currently open daily from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Founded on April 1, 1958, it is the oldest, still-operating restaurant in Mississauga. And it has remained in the same spot at the corner of Cawthra and Lakeshore.

When this place was first built, Mississauga wasn’t yet a city and this area was cottage country for people living in Toronto.

The interior looks like a blast from the past with bright, orange-red countertops and old-fashioned menu boards.

It is known for its soft-serve ice cream, sundaes and funnel cakes.

“We specialize in ice cream since we use real cream (makes the ice cream taste so much better),” the description on their website reads. “We are committed to providing the best quality products at reasonable prices. Fresh fruit toppings and great customer service are just some things that make us the best ice cream store in town!!”

For those in need of a job, the restaurant is looking for staff, according to the website.
