A developer wants to bring a new eight-storey long-term care facility to Milton.

If approved, the building would house 192 beds as well as more than 9,000 sq.-ft. of ground-floor commercial uses.

The property is located on the southwest corner of Regional Road 25 and Louis Saint Laurent Ave. Currently, a single house sits on the tract of land. An existing residential subdivision is located to west of Restivo Lane.

The request for necessary bylaw and zoning amendments is currently being looked at by staff and it is expected to be dealt with by Milton Town Council at its Mar. 4 meeting. The staff report will address any issues raised through the consultation and review process.

The Official Plan currently allows a variety of high density residential, institutional and office uses. The Secondary Plan policy requires a building between three and 15 storeys. Retail and commercial uses are permitted provided they are located within the main floor of a multi-storey building and do not exceed 30,000 sq.-ft.

With regard to the proposal, staff has identified the following matters to be addressed

through the review process:

  • Traffic, site access and parking
  • Site servicing and stormwater management
  • Commercial uses
  • Urban design
