Oakville Public Library Appoints a New CEO
The Oakville Public Library's (OPL) Board of Directors recently appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Tara Wong will be the new CEO as of Nov. 26, 2018.
"Ms. Wong brings a diverse skillset, dynamic experience and great passion to this role - she is the perfect fit," Councillor Jeff Knoll, chair of the library's Board of Directors, said in a recent news release.
"I'm confident in her ability to continue to advance OPL's strategic direction, and further strengthen OPL's reputation as a leader among other world-class library systems."
Wong has previously held management positions at Regina Public Library, Ottawa Public library, and joined the OPL executive team in 2014.
Wong is currently the Director of Innovation and Integration at the library.
So far in her four years at OPL, Wong has built strong relationships with community partners, including the Town of Oakville.
She has also implemented modern technological advancements to advance operational efficiency, and introduced a new programming model to serve the thriving and diverse Oakville community better.
"I'm motivated to turn innovative ideas into reality, and I am excited to continue to empower community connection in Oakville by pushing the boundaries of what is typical for a public library," Wong said in a recent news release.
At the end of the year, after more than 31 years in public service for the Town of Oakville, the current OPL CEO, Lynn Horlor, will be retiring.
