Old movies showing at historical blacksmith shop in Milton this summer

It’s hard to believe that summer is en route (especially after yesterday’s brief burst of winter weather), but the warm weather is approaching, and so are a number of fun community activities such as movie nights.
If you love history, you might be excited to hear that the Milton Historical Society (MHS) is hosting a Summer Classics Movie Night series at the Waldie Blacksmith Shop on James St.
The Waldie Blacksmith Shop is one of the oldest operating blacksmith shops in Ontario that still stands in its original location, the MHS says.
It was operational from 1865 until the 1970s and was restored by the MHS in 1999.
According to the MHS’s website, this new event is open to both members and non-members.
The movies, all of which are beloved classics, will be shown once a month on Thursday evenings, starting on June 22, 2023.
The movies you can check out include:
- 12 Angry Men (June 22)
- Midnight Cowboy (July 13)
- The Magnificent Seven (Aug. 17)
- In the Heat of the Night (Sept. 14)
The MHS says all movies will be shown on a big-screen TV.
Washrooms are available and viewers are advised to bring their own beverages and snacks.
Masks are optional.
The movies are free to watch, but spaces might go quickly, so early reservations are encouraged.
