A retired engineer from Oshawa should have no problem creating his own fun after winning nearly $122,000 in the LOTTO MAX Feb. 13 draw.

Robert Annaert won $121,717.60, the second prize in the LOTTO MAX draw, and said the windfall was “truly unbelievable.

“I never expected something like this to happen. I see winners announced all the time but never expected it to be me.”

Annaert said he’s been a regular lottery player for decades and typically plays LOTTO MAX. “I checked my ticket against the winning numbers and realized I had a whole lot of them matching. I pulled out my phone to scan it on the OLG app and I couldn’t believe what it said,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall. “I had to ask my wife to have a look at the ticket. She immediately knew it was a winner but didn’t believe it!”

The lottery winner already has plans for his new cash, which includes doing some travelling.

“This feels good. I feel very lucky and blessed.”

LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won more than $7.9 billion since 2009, including 100 jackpot wins and 862 MAXMILLIONS prizes. LOTTO MAX is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on King Street in Oshawa.
