It appears most parents feel the safest option for their children is online learning.

According to a recent poll conducted by insauga.com via Instagram, 57 per cent of respondents from Mississauga and Brampton believe schools should be closed for in-person learning.

The Province has delayed school reopenings to Wednesday (January 5), but many parents feel that isn’t enough to make a difference.

Students have experienced numerous disruptions to their learning format since the onset of the pandemic, with schools closing for the majority of last year, and not reopening until September.

Once again, as the daily number of new infections continues to break records, and because fewer children have been vaccinated compared to other age groups due to delays in eligibility, many parents feel schools aren’t safe.

Despite the Province insisting students will return to the classroom, many parents have made the difficult decision to switch their children’s learning format from in-person to online.

For now, students are expected to return to the classroom as of January 5, but, because of the fluidity of the situation, and the constantly rising cases, that could change in the days to come.
