Here’s the deal.
Halton police are warning of a scam involving the World Cup

E-mails are being sent out claiming you’ve won World Cup tickets or a lottery prize to attend a match in Russia.

But they’re just phishing e-mails from people looking to steal personal information, say police, who are also warning folks to beware of fake websites selling team apparel.

If you believe you’ve been a target or victim of fraud, report the incident by contacting Halton police and calling the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
