A series of live-streamed concerts by an eclectic instrumental group will be performed for Burlington school children in the upcoming months.

The performances by JUNO Award nominees and Billboard charting band Sultans of String are made possible through the Burlington Arts and Culture Funds (BACF) which has recently awarded grants to support 18 community projects.

The concerts will be inspired by world travel and celebrate Canada’s multicultural mosaic with songs about the Buddhist Bodhi Day, Quebec’s Carnival, Chanukah, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Diwali, Eid, Halloween, Pan-African Kwanzaa, Ramadan and Winter Solstice.

Sultans of String will provide young audiences with a glimpse into different customs, celebrations and festivities enjoyed in Canada.

The BACF grants are awarded each year to promote the arts and cultures and selected by a jury that considers the applicants based on artistic merit, program merit, strategic initiative, citywide and community impact and economic impact.

Recipients can receive up to $7,000 in funding for their works or performances.

This is the sixth year of the BACF. and the program has supported a total of 127 projects since its launch.

The goal of the program is to nurture the capacity of the arts and culture sector in Burlington
