A planned air traffic controller strike in France has led to a cancelled flight into Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Air traffic control worker’s unions and France’s civil aviation authority DGAC failed to reach a deal over pay rates. DGAC asked airlines to cancel 75 per cent of flights today at Paris Orly airport and 55 per cent of flights at Paris Charles-De-Gaulle, according to news reports.

In a post to X, Paris Aéroport said there is a “national social movement of air traffic controllers.” The airport authority expects numerous delays and cancellations.

The strike could see flights cancelled and delayed across Europe, according to news reports.

As of 7 a.m. today, Pearson Airport said one airline has cancelled one of today’s three flights scheduled to arrive from Paris Charles-De-Gaulle.

“Today’s three flights departing from Toronto Pearson to CDG are currently unaffected,” Pearson said in a post on X.

Air Canada’s flight 873 from Paris, expected to arrive at 3:15 p.m. today, has been cancelled, according to Pearson’s online arrivals board.

As always, travellers can check their flight departure status before heading out to the airport and those expecting people to arrive at Pearson can check arrival status here.
