Tragic death of Gen V star halts TV show filmed in Mississauga and across Ontario

Star of Amazon Prime superhero satire Gen V, Chance Perdomo, has died in a motorcycle accident at age 27.
Perdomo was born in Los Angeles and raised in Southhampton, UK. After university in Winchester, Perdomo decided to pursue acting. He got his first role on the CBBC series Hetty Feather in 2017 and jumped into more adult drama with BBC’s film Killed by My Debt.
This later role earned him a BAFTA Best Actor nomination. Following this he auditioned for the role of Jughead on the CW series Riverdale but lost out to Cole Sprouse. He later won the role of Ambrose Spellman in the producer’s next series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
After Sabrina’s cancellation, Perdomo jumped to Gen V, a spin-off of The Boys as Andre Anderson, a superpowered student at Godolkin University with magnetic manipulation abilities.
In The Boys’ universe, much of the world is controlled by the evil megacorporation Vought International. This powerful conglomerate developed the means to create superpowered beings and employs a team of corrupted “supes” (known as the Seven) to tighten their grasp on the world through power and propaganda. Meanwhile, the titular team of operatives the Boys attempt to bring the Seven and Vought down.
The series, based on the comic series by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, proved a massive hit for Amazon for the last three seasons, with a fourth on the way this summer. The success prompted several spin-offs including Gen V, which follows a group of young supes training in university to join the Seven.

Like its predecessor, Gen V, was filmed across much of the GTA with the University of Ontario Mississauga Campus standing in for the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Additional filming took place at Brampton’s Claireville Conservation Area and various locations in Toronto and Vaughan. Filming took place from May to September 2023 ahead of the series’ fall launch.
Perdomo was on his way to Toronto on his bike when he crashed in upstate New York late at night on Mar 29. Details of the crash remain sparse.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident,” his publicist told Variety, “Authorities have advised that no other individuals were involved.”
“His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother,” the statement continued.
“We can’t quite wrap our head around this,” the Gen V producers said in a statement, “For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person.”
Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense,” they continued, ” “We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”
Per Deadline, Gen V was meant to begin production with a table read on April 8 ahead of filming. However, production has been indefintely suspended as the production grieves Perdomo and
