warm and rainy in southern Ontario

It will be another cloudy day with some heavy rain in southern Ontario.

After a mostly sunny week with some rain towards the end, temperatures are expected to rise back into the double digits, though this will likely bring additional rainy conditions.

Residents in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, and Hamilton can expect to start their day with predominately cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance—very likely— of rain, which may turn into a thunderstorm.

Similarly, Durham is set to experience cloudy conditions with a 40 per cent chance of rain showers, which could also lead to thunderstorms.

Environment Canada has not yet released a weather advisory regarding the stormy weather, though residents might want to monitor further updates or weather alerts closely.

Brisk winds will sweep across all cities, gusting at 40 km/h, but will calm down by late afternoon.

Daytime temperatures will heat up to  23 C in Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton, while Halton will see highs of 22 C. Durham is going to be slightly cooler with a peak of 21 C.

For those heading outdoors, staying hydrated and applying sunscreen is advisable, as the UV index is expected to reach a high level of 6.

According to Environment Canada, Residents are advised to limit sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., seek shade, and wear protective clothing such as a hat and sunglasses.

Evening temperatures will cool off, but it’ll still be a pleasantly warm night. In Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton, it will be 13 C. Durham will be a few degrees cooler at 11 C., while Halton will slip to 10 C.

Cloudy skies are anticipated to persist, with a 40 to 60 per cent chance of rain. If thunderstorms don’t happen during the day, they might start in the evening.

The rain is expected to continue into Monday and through Tuesday, though the warmer temperatures will stick around and hover between 15 C and 21 C.

From Wednesday through Friday sunshine will return to the forecast with cloudy periods.

The evenings will also be warmer with temperature lows between 9 C and 11 C.
